Far exceeding even our expectations … the ratings for Episode One, Episode Two and Episode Three of Walking the Bible: A Journey by Land Through the Five Books of Moses, TMC Entertainment’s three-hour high-definition miniseries for the PBS Network, were phenomenal.
Episode One, which aired on January 4, 2006 against the most-watched Rose Bowl game in television history, earned the second highest ratings for that time slot in many of the top 50 metered markets, with a 2.4 HH (household) rating, according to PBS and Nielsen, up 56% over PBS’s 2005 average primetime ratings and an astonishing 92% over PBS’s average ratings for December 2005. Using the standard industry formula, this translates to just under 7,000,000 viewers for Episode One.
Episode Two, which aired on January 11, 2006 against the highly touted season premiere of ABC’s hit series, Lost, surpassed the ratings for Episode One, coming in with an estimated 7,500,000 viewers, with 34 stations performing at 2 or above, including 18 ratings at 3 or above! The word was out, and the viewers tuned in.
Episode Three, which aired on January 18, 2006 against the extremely popular audition segment of American Idol, the #1 show on TV, came in with the same incredible ratings as Episode Two. Our viewers came back for the final episode … a very good sign for Walking the Bible, PBS and TMC Entertainment.
